About the School
    
     The School of Public Health (Shenzhen), one of the 9 key schools on Shenzhen Campus of Sun Yat-sen University, was founded in April 2017. The school will continue to maintain the excellent traditions of Sun Yat-sen University and apply the "complementary" development strategy in Shenzhen. The school will mainly focus on the infectious disease prevention and control, aiming to become a world-leading school in education and research in the field of global public health. 
     The school has admitted the first 85 undergraduate students in September 2017. All students will start their first two-year studies on Guangzhou East Campus and continue their remaining studies on Shenzhen Campus in 2019. In the next five years, the number of undergraduates and graduate students is expected to reach around 800, the academic faculty number will reach 150, including 50 full professors of and 80 associate professors.


Recruitment Plan
 
     We aim to establish a comprehensive and integrated program, which will cover the most important aspects of emerging and re-emerging infectious disease prevention and control. The research areas will include:
    ● Pathogen biology
    ● Infection and immunity
    ● Diagnosis, vaccine and drug development
    ● Bioinformatics for infectious diseases
    ● Vector control research
     We also aim to establish the following multidisciplinary research platforms:
    ● Epidemiology and medical statistics
    ● Occupational health and environmental hygiene
    ● Nutrition and food health
    ● Maternal and child health
    ● Hygiene Toxicology
    ● Health policy and management
   
     In order to meet the needs of development, the School of Public Health (Shenzhen) is now initiating a long-term recruitment program seeking talents locally and globally:
 
The Recruitment Program of Global Experts (known as “The Thousand Talents Plan”)
Innovative Experts, Long-term Program
     The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in a related discipline/subject, holding appointed professorship or equivalent in world-renowned universities, institutions, or senior leadership position in internationally renowned enterprises or financial institutions. The successful candidate will generally be no more than 55 years old and must have not fully employed in China at the time of recruitment, or has worked in China for no more than 1 year. After official appointment, the successful candidate must agree to work full-time in school for more than 3 years.
     For those who have an exceptional record or who meet the urgent need of qualified personnel in China, the school may appropriately adjust requirements in age, education, and professional experience. (The candidate will need to provide proofs and records.)
Innovative Experts, Short-term Program
     Meet qualifications for the long-term program as above. The successful candidate (including non-Chinese foreign experts) must work in China for more than 3 years, with no less than 2 months each year.
Thousand Youth Talents Program
     The successful candidate must have a PhD or MD in a related discipline/subject, with age less than 40 years old. In addition, the candidate must meet the following requirements:
     1. Hold official teaching or research positions in world-leading universities, institutions or well-known enterprises. Overseas work experience must be more than 36 months after receiving the PhD degree.
     2. Must have professional achievements recognized by peer-review experts, and have potential to become a leader in academic or technological fields.
     3. Shall not have been employed as full-time in China before this appointment, or have worked in China for no more than 1 year.
     4. The successful candidate will agree to work in China for more than 3 years.
For those who have exceptional record in performance, or have obtained PhD degree overseas, or who meet the urgent shortage of qualified personnel in China, the requirement for age, education, and professional experience may be appropriately adjusted (The candidate will need to provide demonstrable records).
Foreign Experts Program
     The successful applicant will be a non-Chinese foreign expert, aged no more than 65 years old, who will be required to work full-time in China for more than 3 years after the introduction. Other qualification requirements shall be consistent with the requirements for innovative experts of long-term program.
● Top-notch Expert and Innovation Team Program
     The successful applicant will be a top-notch expert in the field of natural science or engineering and will work full-time in China for more than 5 years, and meet one of the following conditions:
     1. Winners of Nobel Prize, Turing Award, Fields Medal and other international prizes.
     2. Members of the Academy of Sciences or the Academy of Engineering in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and other developed countries.
     3. World-renowned scholars in world-class universities and research institutions.

Leading Talent
     The successful candidate should have promising academic records and global influence.
Distinguished Young and Middle-Aged Talent
     The successful candidate should have specific research plan, independent research capability and great potential for academic development.
Excellent Young Talent
     The successful candidate should have demonstrable academic achievements and great potential for academic development. The successful candidate should have active innovative thinking, strong innovation ability and development potential.

Academic Positions (Professors and Associate Professors)
1. The successful candidate will comply with national laws and regulations of the school, loyal to education, including academic norms, rigorous scholarship, and care for students.
2. Essential and preferred prerequisites: the successful candidate are expected to have obtained a PhD degree and studied or trained in research in world-leading universities or institutes.
3. Professor candidate: The successful candidate must have outstanding academic achievements and reputation in related fields.
4. Associate Professor: The successful candidate should have outstanding academic achievements and reputation in related research fields.

Research fellowships (Contract professor and associate professor)
     The successful candidate usually should be no more than 38 years old at the first employment and should meet one of the following requirements:
     1. Have held the position of lecturer, assistant researcher or equal position or above from world famous universities or institutions,
     2. Have a PhD or postdoctoral experience in world famous universities or institutions.

Postdoctoral Fellowships
     The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in public health, preventive medicine, statistics, basic medicine, clinical medicine, biological sciences, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, medical technology, law, public management or other related professional fields. The successful candidate should graduate within last three years and be aged no more than 35 years old.

Salary and Welfare

The Recruitment Program of Global Experts (known as “The Thousand Talents Plan”)
     The successful candidate will have one-time endowment and other benefits from the central Chinese government and Guangdong province. The university will also provide additional benefits, living subsidies and salaries, as well as adequate research start-up funds (negotiable). The recruited talent will have priority support in housing, office and research equipment; will have special support in team building, graduate enrollment, major research application; the university will provide relocation package, rental subsidies, and will give special support in the residential permit, city exit and entry and children’s schooling, etc.
2017 Sun Yat-sen University “Hundred Talents Program"
     The university will provide competitive compensation and salary including scientific research expenses, relocation subsidies, offices and laboratories (negotiable); will give preferential support in research and office conditions, team building, graduate enrollment, relocation housing, etc.
Academic positions
     The successful candidate will be provided with salary, insurance and welfares according to relevant regulations of the university.
Research and postdoctoral fellowships
     1. Postdoctoral: 200,000 Chinese Yuan per year, inclusive.
     2. Contract Professor: 300,000-360,000 Chinese Yuan per year, inclusive.
     3. Contract Associate Professor: 190,000-250,000 Yuan per annum, inclusive.
     4. Subsidy: postdoctoral fellows in Zhuhai Campus and Shenzhen Campus will have campus subsidies in accordance with related policies. Postdoctoral fellows in Shenzhen will have local financial subsidies. Contract research fellows under 35 years old can apply postdoctoral fellowship and have local financial subsidies from local government in Shenzhen. School policy will provide support in settling, housing, medical care, and child enrollment.
     5. The Pearl River Recruitment Program of Talents for Postdoctoral Funding Project.
600,000 Chinese Yuan support in two years for Postdoctoral fellows who have obtained their PhD from Top 200 Universities (not including those in mainland China) in recent two years (according to 2017 Times Higher Education World University Rankings). Recruitment Schedule

1. The Recruitment Program of Global Experts (known as “The Thousand Talents Plan”) will be conducted according to Chinese national arrangements, usually starting in June to July, once a year.
2. 2017 Sun Yat-sen University “Hundred Talents Program" will be held 1-2 times per month as required.
3. Academic positions will be conducted once per month.
4. Research fellowships and postdoctoral fellowships will be conducted once a week.

     The city of Shenzhen will set up corresponding scientific and technological projects to support the high-level talents who have settled in Shenzhen. Shenzhen city will provide supporting funds for research projects that have been obtained at the national, provincial and ministerial level.
