About me
I am a professor at Sun Yat-sen University, focusing on epidemiological research of gastrointestinal diseases and their comorbidities, including identifying risk factors, evaluating long-term health outcomes, and developing clinical prediction models, with the goal of achieving proactive health management for those with chronic diseases.
I obtained my Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet under the supervision of Prof. Fang Fang. After graduation, I joined the research group of Prof. Jonas F. Ludvigsson at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet. In March 2025, I was promoted to Assistant Professor at Karolinska Institutet.
I has served as principal investigator for nine research grants from China or Sweden and served as editor for several international journals (e.g., PLOS Medicine and BMC Medicine)
I has published over 80 SCI papers, with first/corresponding author in journals such as European Heart Journal, Gut, The Lancet Regional Health – Europe, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, PLOS Medicine, eClinicalMedicine, and Neurology.

Research interests
Epidemiological research on gastrointestinal diseases (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer) and their comorbidities (including cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, and psychiatric disorders): applying epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods in different data sources (e.g., clinical data, registry databases, and omics data) to identify disease risk factors, investigate long-term health outcomes, and develop clinical prediction models.
Research on risk factors and health outcomes of patients with neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and cancer (e.g., colorectal cancer).
